At
Cash Lovell Stables & Riding Academy, we stress to young horse
lovers that there is much more to horsemanship than riding. Young
riders should learn to care for these grand animals, groom them,
feed them, clean their stalls and tack, and learn how to safely
handle them in all situations. That’s where our youth club,
Lovell’s Little Bits, comes in.
There is no
charge to be involved in the Little Bits. Our monthly meeting are
open to all of our riders. At these barn gatherings, we study horses
in a fun atmosphere. For instance, to learn about tack and horse
equipment, we host a barn scavenger hunt! To learn the parts of
a horse, we tape note cards to a horse’s body! In the heat
of the summer, we even host horse-washing parties!! Many of our
Little Bits also work as barn helpers in the afternoons and during
their school holidays and summers.
The Little
Bits also raise money and volunteer for several charitable horse-related
organizations. They are regular donors to the N.C. Equine Rescue
League and Riverwood Therapeutic Riding School.
The Little
Bits have received national honors for their hard work with horses
and horse-related causes. In 2002 and 2004, the American Saddlebred
Horse Association named Lovell’s Little Bits the Best Youth
Club in the country. In 2003, the same organization recognized
the
Little
Bits for their extraordinary efforts in promoting horseback riding
as a sport.
Please join
in the fun. All it takes is a little bit of your time. We promise
it will be worth it!
