For four years in a row, Cash Lovell’s camps have received national accolades and awards for outstanding achievement in helping youngsters learn horsemanship in a fun-filled, family-oriented environment.

Our summer camps in 2008 are shaping up to be better than ever.

Little Tots Camp for 3 - 5 year olds - June 30 - July 2.

Overnight Camp dates for Internediate to Advanced Riders are scheduled for July 27th - July 31st.

Day Camps for Beginner to Intermediate Riders will be held the weeks of June 16th - June 20th and July 7th - July 11th.

For details, call Parker Lovell at 336-971-9388.

Our campers will start by learning the parts of the saddle and bridle and how to properly tack up a horse. By the end of the week, when they put on a horse show for their family and friends, they will have learned the following, as well as much more:

  • How to safely walk a horse
  • How to safely groom and tack
  • How to safely wash a horse
  • How to clean tack
  • Parts of the horse
  • Basic veterinary care by a guest veterinarian
  • Basic feeding information by a guest horse nutritionist
  • Basic hoof care and farriery by a guest farrier
  • The fundamentals of riding including trotting, circling and posting by our instructors and a guest horse show judge
  • The fundamentals of hooking and driving a horse to a cart
  • The fundamentals of training a horse
  • History of the horse
  • History of riding
  • History of the American Saddlebred
  • And many other aspects of horsemanship, including how to safely have fun with their big, furry friends

Arrival time each day is 9 a.m. Pickup time each day is 4 p.m. The children will need to bring lunch daily, except for Friday when we order pizza! On Friday, we also have a horse show and a horsey costume contest. Parents should plan to attend – cameras in hand!

There is a refrigerator available, if needed. Cold water will be available at the stables at all times. We ask that the children bring a riding helmet each day, wear long pants and approved barn boots.

The price of the camp is $400 per week, with a $100 nonrefundable deposit due by March 1. We limit the number of campers to 20. The children are divided into four groups of five, which allows them hands on horsemanship nearly all day. They will return home in the evenings full of great horse tales – and ready for bed!
